How to use this site

The home screen is a live map of bioluminescence sightings around Wales, England and Scotland.

• Pulsing pins are sightings approved by an admin. Brighter, larger pins mean a more recent report.
• Grey pins are "no show" reports — where someone looked but didn't see any glow. Toggle them with the eye icon.
• Tap a pin to see the photo, reporter, time and tide conditions.

Tap Report to choose how you'd like to add a sighting:

• I'm here now (live camera) — use the in-app night camera to capture the glow from your location. Your phone's GPS and the time are attached automatically.
• Log on the map — drop a pin where you spotted it, then add the date, time and details.

Didn't see anything? A "No show" report is just as valuable — knowing where it wasn't helps everyone.

Every report is held as pending until an admin reviews it. Once approved, it appears on the map and in the gallery for everyone to see.

Live-camera reports that are approved are marked with a Verified badge, so the community can tell they were captured and submitted in real time.

Every report you submit that gets approved earns you 30 days of full Pro access — free, as a thank-you for contributing.

• Both glowing sightings and in-app "no show" reports (captured with the live camera) count.
• You can earn up to 6 rewards per year — around 180 days of free Pro.
• Each reward is for a different sighting date, so get out there on lots of nights!

Pro unlocks the bloom forecast, tide data, satellite layers and nearby-sighting alerts.

Use the buttons along the top of the map to overlay:

• Chlorophyll — satellite chlorophyll-a, a hint of bloom conditions.
• Sea temp — sea surface temperature.
• Currents — animated sea-surface currents.

The floating card shows a bloom-likelihood score for the area you're viewing.

Browse all approved photos and videos in the Gallery, and see the most active spotters on the Leaderboard.

Only approved sightings count towards the leaderboard.

There's a board for each major beach in the Forum — ask questions, plan meetups and share local knowledge.

The coast is dangerous after dark. Never swim at night, tell someone where you're going, and check the tides. In an emergency, dial 999 Coastguard.
