A quick guide to spotting, reporting and exploring bioluminescence with our community.
The home screen is a live map of bioluminescence sightings around Wales, England and Scotland.
Tap Report to choose how you'd like to add a sighting:
Didn't see anything? A "No show" report is just as valuable — knowing where it wasn't helps everyone.
Every report is held as pending until an admin reviews it. Once approved, it appears on the map and in the gallery for everyone to see.
Live-camera reports that are approved are marked with a Verified badge, so the community can tell they were captured and submitted in real time.
Every report you submit that gets approved earns you 30 days of full Pro access — free, as a thank-you for contributing.
Pro unlocks the bloom forecast, tide data, satellite layers and nearby-sighting alerts.
Use the buttons along the top of the map to overlay:
The floating card shows a bloom-likelihood score for the area you're viewing.
Browse all approved photos and videos in the Gallery, and see the most active spotters on the Leaderboard.
Only approved sightings count towards the leaderboard.
There's a board for each major beach in the Forum — ask questions, plan meetups and share local knowledge.
The coast is dangerous after dark. Never swim at night, tell someone where you're going, and check the tides. In an emergency, dial 999 Coastguard.
